The Kernow Almanac is an online literary magazine based in Cornwall, publishing short fiction of 2500 words or fewer.

We particularly like flash and microfiction. The exact definition of those terms we’ll leave up to you. Poetry is a hard sell, but when we dig it, we dig it.

We enjoy stories that are strange, funny, unsettling, beautiful, peculiar or experimental. We value voice over polish. We are not sticklers for perfect formatting or impeccable MFA polish. Please don’t feel intimidated. I’m an uneducated tradesman. Taste is arbitrary.

We will open for submissions whenever we feel like it. We’ll publish whenever we feel like it. We endeavour to publish an Almanac twice a year, which will be free to read.

Not every story published on the site will make it into the Almanac.

Cornish settings, voices, folklore and subject matter are especially welcome, but you don’t have to be Cornish to send us something.
